MRSA
Blackrock Clinic is committed to best practice in infection control and health improvement measures.
The incidence of MRSA infection in hospitals is commonly measured by monitoring the number of patients developing an MRSA infection in their blood. This data is displayed by showing the number of MRSA blood stream infections per 1000 bed nights.
Over the last few years, MRSA infection rates at Blackrock Clinic have been low, and in 2008 the Clinic had no cases of MRSA Bacteraemia

How do we keep our MRSA rates low?
- Most patient rooms are single occupancy with their own toilet
- We have a dedicated Infection Control Nurse
- Our staff are trained in hand hygiene and their performance in this area is regularly monitored
- We screen all high risk patients for MRSA carriage prior to admission
