Professional Profile
Professor Arumugasamy graduated from RCSI receiving the Medal in Surgery in 1993. He obtained the FRCSI in 1997 and Masters in Surgery in 2001 (RCSI/NUI). Following Irish Higher Surgical Training he obtained the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training with the Intercollegiate Speciality in Upper GI Surgery. He worked as an Oesophago-gastric Surgeon in Cork and then completed a Bariatric Fellowship in Liverpool (Spire Murrayfield and University Hospital Aintree). His interests include general (cholecystectomies, hernia repair etc), laparoscopic anti reflux and obesity surgery (sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass), endoscopy, investigation of reflux, dysphagia, oesophageal disorders and the management of upper GI cancer. He is an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor RCSI and member of BOMSS (British Obesity and Metabolic Surgical Society).
