Special Interests

In addition to his special interest in Urologocal Oncology, Professor Lynch is the lead urologist in laboratory based prostate cancer research with multiple publications in the area. He has a particular interest in laparoscopic surgery and also performs robotic surgery for men with localised early stage prostate cancer.

Professional Profile

Professor Thomas H Lynch has a track record as an innovator, academic and teacher. He has lectured and published extensively on prostate cancer and has always been involved in new innovations in patient care. He has been heavily involved in the development of national guidelines for prostate cancer diagnosis and chaired the expert group for the HSE. He was also a member of the expert group for the much acclaimed Irish Health Technology Assessment for HIQA on robotic surgery.

Current Membership

He is a member of the lead clinicians group advising the National Cancer Control Programme on further improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of men with prostate and other urological cancers.

He has won several awards including The British Journal of Urological  International award, The British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) Prize and The International Association of Radiation Research Prize. He is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Trinity College, Dublin and is a reviewer for several peer review journals.
