Professor Cathal Moran, Professor of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine,  specialises in the management of pain and injury of the knee and shoulder

As a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Blackrock Clinic, Cathal specialises in all aspects of shoulder and knee surgery. He has particular interest in Rotator Cuff and Labrum Repair, Shoulder Stabilisation, ACL (Cruciate Ligament) Reconstruction, Sports Injuries, Cartilage Regeneration, Biologics and Cellular Therapy, and Joint Replacement. He treats patients of all ages and levels of activity.

Cathal is a medical graduate of NUI Galway and completed his Orthopaedic Training through Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He completed his sub-specialist training in Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, Knee and Shoulder Surgery, at Hospital for Special Surgery and Weil Cornell Medical College in New York, as well as additional study at Brigham & Women’s, Boston, and Antwerp Orthopaedic Centre. As an internationally recognised author and speaker, he has extensive experience working with athletic injuries and teams at all levels of recreational, amateur and professional sport across Ireland, the US and Europe.

Cathal is the Professor & Chair of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine at Trinity College Dublin, as well as Hon. Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the RCSI. As part of this role he leads international clinical trials in stem cell therapy and regenerative medicine.
