Supra-ventricular and ventricular arrhythmia
Dr. Louisa O’Neill studied medicine at University College Dublin on an entrance scholarship and obtained her medical degree in 2008. She completed general medical and higher specialist cardiology training in Ireland.
From there she undertook a British Heart Foundation research fellowship at King’s College London and St. Thomas’ Hospital London and was awarded a Ph.D. based on work characterizing arrhythmia mechanisms in patients with congenital heart disease.
During this time, she also undertook clinical training in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac MRI and obtained level 3 certification from the Society of cardiovascular magnetic resonance. She has contributed to the European Society of Cardiology textbook on cardiovascular imaging.
She subsequently completed a two-year period of further training at the Sint Jan Hospital Belgium where she gained additional clinical and research experience in novel ablation techniques, particularly in the area of atrial fibrillation.
