Professional Profile

Prof. Quinlan is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, practicing in Tallaght and Naas General Hospitals since 2013. He has a specialist interest in primary and revision total hip and knee replacement surgery as well as soft tissue surgery of the knee.

An honours graduate of UCD in 1997, he completed his basic and higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedic surgery in Ireland in 2008, before travelling to the University of Otago, New Zealand for a lower limb arthroplasty fellowship. He commenced practice as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in University Hospital Waterford and Lourdes Orthopaedic Hospital, Kilcreene in 2009. In addition to his arthroplasty practice there, he was exposed to a large and varied mixture of orthopaedic trauma.

Research Interests

He has multiple publications and is an active supervisor of ongoing research.

Current Membership

Prof. Quinlan is currently the Honorary Academic Secretary of the Irish Institute for Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery; Honorary Secretary of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine. He also sits on the National ATLS committee and is the Chair of the Irish AO course.
