Ireland’s First Dedicated Cardiac MRI Scanner

The launch of Ireland’s first-ever, dedicated Cardiac MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scanner: a piece of crucial equipment which allows cardiologists to see the heart in incredible detail.

This means that certain invasive diagnostic techniques can sometimes be avoided.  The Cardiac MRI can also diagnose silent heart conditions which currently cause the deaths of one or two young Irish sportsmen every week.

Having this scanner in the Blackrock Centre for Cardiac MRI will outstrip the productivity of other Irish hospitals in the cardiac area. This ensures more skill, proficiency, judgement and command of scan reading a great reassurance for Irish patients suffering heart failure at a time when it is reaching epidemic proportions in the Western World.
