2021 at the Blackrock Clinic – a Look Back, a Look Forward

7th Jan 2022

2021 was another memorable year for us at the Blackrock Clinic, where we treated a record number of patients and introduced ground-breaking treatments, all the while ensuring that you, your loved ones and our staff were all safe at the Blackrock Clinic.

During the year we welcomed many new faces to our team, expanding across several departments and bolstering the world-class expertise of our staff. As well as this, we were delighted to be awarded the IBEC KeepWell Mark™for safety and well-being in the workplace, thus reinforcing our reputation as one of Ireland’s leading medical employers.

Our GP Virtual Clinic Series made a welcome return in the latter half of the year, which saw GPs across Ireland attend and discuss a range of medical fields with our top consultants! This has made us particularly excited for our 2022 events, which will be announced in the coming weeks. The continuation of our concierge service was also greatly welcomed, ensuring that our patients were met with a warm smile and helping hand!

2021 was also a fantastic year for Blackrock Clinic’s medical advancements. We became the first private hospital in Ireland to provide F-18 PSMA PET/CT Scans for prostate cancer, improving patient outcomes and ensuring that travel abroad for this treatment was no longer necessary. More recently, the MAKO CT-based robotic arm-assisted system from Stryker’s Mako SmartRobotics™ was launched in our orthopaedic department. With this ‘best-in-class’ precision technology, Blackrock Clinic is leading the way in Ireland when it comes to primary hip and knee replacements, with plans in the near future to begin shoulder replacement surgeries.

On top of this, we became the first private hospital to join the Irish National Orthopaedic Register (INOR), allowing us to benchmark our surgical outcomes against national performance, analyse our outcomes, and add to/learn from the collective national surgical experiences. Our continued progress and excellence in this field will only be enhanced in 2022, which we are looking forward to greatly.

Finally, we would be remiss not to mention our work with vaccinations throughout the year! As the booster is rolled out successfully, we’ll continue to play our part. We’re looking forward to carrying this momentum into 2022, working to consistently provide world-class care for our patients, provide best-in-class treatments and being #HereForYou.
