September – Irish Heart Month
2nd Sep 2022
Each year, cardiovascular diseases kill over 18 million people worldwide, including approximately 10,000 people in Ireland. To help combat this, Blackrock Clinic is proud to highlight ‘Irish Heart Month’ throughout September, an initiative of our colleagues at the Irish Heart Foundation.
National Heart Month serves as an opportunity to spread awareness around heart health and the prevention of cardiovascular disease. We all know that the heart is an extremely vital organ. It works to provide every part of our bodies with oxygen and nutrients and removes waste such as carbon dioxide. As a result, it is crucial that we take care of it.
National Leader in Cardiology
At Blackrock Clinic we are well-equipped to handle all of your heart health needs year-round. Since the very beginning we have established ourselves as a national leader in cardiology. Over 30 years later this has not changed. Blackrock Clinic remains at the forefront of cardiology, pioneering new techniques and technologies.
We lead the country in some of the newest, cutting-edge procedures. These have included:
- the completion of Ireland’s first keyhole heart valve replacement surgery in 2011
- the carrying out of the country’s first minimally invasive heart bypass operation using robotics in 2018, and most lately
- becoming the first Irish hospital to use iCLAS technology, a novel ultra-cold curvilinear catheter ablation system to treat patients with atrial fibrillation

Our outstanding team of cardiology doctors, consultants and nurses provide exceptional care to our patients by utilising international best practices and developments that increases the speed, efficiency and efficacy of their work. Many of our consultants are renowned and sought after for their expertise, both among their peers and further afield.
