The Emergency Department at Blackrock Clinic: 11 years young
17th Aug 2021
Turning 11 years young this summer, the Emergency Department (ED) at the Blackrock Clinic has gone from strength to strength.
It has been quite a journey since our ED launched, with many improvements occurring along the way.
In 2014, we outgrew our original environment and expanded into a purpose-built space which is three times its original size.
In 2016, we introduced a traffic light system which, accessed from our website, which gives a live visual indicator on whether the hospital has capacity to admit Emergency Department patients.
Today, the ED at Blackrock Clinic is used by more than 10,000 patients a year, and we could not be prouder of the level of service and care that we provide to those in an emergency.
If you are involved in a trauma, you can be sure that when you arrive at the ED, you will receive the best care available. We are also the only private ED open on Sundays and bank holidays, because emergencies don’t take days off.
Making the patient experience as hassle-free and comfortable as possible is of the utmost importance to us, and we are always putting our patients’ needs first. That’s why we have single occupancy rooms in our ED, guaranteeing you the privacy and peace that you need and deserve in an emergency, while also helping to protect patients and staff alike with our rigorous infection prevention and control measures in a time of a pandemic.
At Blackrock Clinic’s ED you can rest assured that we adhere to all HSE Covid-19 guidelines along with more general infection control protocols so you never have to worry.
Our Consultant led ED is open, ready to take care of you when you need us. Certain premium insurance policies cover the cost of visiting BRC’s ED. So, when you face an emergency, look no further than the Blackrock Clinic’s patient centred, state of the art Emergency Department.
