Harriet makes history with first keyhole heart surgery

By Clare Minnock A BALLINABRANNA woman made history recently when she became the first ever person to undergo keyhole surgery on her heart. Harriet Gould, from Tomard, Milford underwent an all-day surgery to repair one of her heart valves after enduring long-term health problems.
This was her third cardiac procedure since 1988: previously, 67-year-old Harriet had her aortic valve replaced, followed by the replacement of her aortic root. She is now recovering well and made it home to her husband Arthur yesterday (Monday).
