Nessa is a Clinical Specialist in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Nessa received an honours degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Liverpool in 2002. Nessa then completed a Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy from the University of Queensland, Australia in 2007. Throughout her career, Nessa has gained extensive experience in Musculoskeletal, Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Physiotherapy Practice. She has worked in the Mater University Hospital, Dublin; Beacon Hospital, Dublin; Aintree University Hospital NHS trust, Liverpool and in private practice. Nessa joined Blackrock clinic in 2015.
Nessa has developed a wide range of skills and has a special interest in the area of low back pain, neck pain and chronic pain conditions. She is a regular guest speaker and tutor on the UCD Physiotherapy programmes from 2011 – present. Nessa co-wrote and lectured on the Chartered Physiotherapists in Musculoskeletal Therapy (CPMT) course for new graduates.
Research and employing the most up to date evidence based practice is a passion of Nessa’s. She presented at the World Confederation of Physical Therapy (WCPT) Congress in Singapore in 2015, receiving the Clinical Innovation Award and research bursary from the ISCP for her work developing Lumbar Spine group rehabilitation classes. Nessa currently leads our Lumbar Spine Triage and Rehabilitation programmes.
