Welcome To The Pathology Department

Pathology is the precise study and diagnosis of disease. Blackrock Clinic’s significant Pathology Department has been a key part of the hospital’s operations since it opened over 25 years ago.

It recently changed location to the St Catherine’s Building, to the left of the hospital as one drives up from the front car park towards the multistorey car park.

During this move, the Department received new, high-tech histopathology, microbiology and blood sciences labs. This ensured the Department’s 45+ team were able to keep up with the increased workload from the extension to the hospital.

The Pathology Department at Blackrock Clinic is one of the largest independent laboratories attached to a private hospital in Ireland.

Areas of operation include Clinical Biochemistry / Endocrinology / Point of Care Testing, Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Microbiology and Cellular Pathology.

The Department is accredited by INAB (Irish National Accreditation Board) to the ISO 15189 – 2012 standards.
